Это такая извращённая американская логика: главное, чтобы при наборе не было дискриминации. А по мне так если кому-то (потенциальному босу) не нравится моя Personal Information то пусть уж лучше меня сразу не возьмут (найдутся другие желающие), чем это потом выяснится, но будет уже поздно...

Ну, что-то разумное в этом есть. Конечно приятно когда тебя любят всего и целиком. Однако это действительно фактор для отбора. И если челове держит 2 одинаково хороших CV, но при этом окажется, что у вас цвет кожи или martial status не тот, то позицию вы не получите, несмотря на то, что все это никакого отношения к вашим профессиональным навыкам не имеет. Фотографию же мы не прикладываем? Если для шефа это принципиально - пускай звонит или вызывает на интервью.
К тому же часто CV получает ответсвенный по программе, а не конкретный шеф.

PS: думаю что извращения - это, например, феминизм (это точно клиника).

Не зазорно, но зачем же заставлять читателя (потенциального нанимателя) делать двойную работу? Если у вас сильные референсы, то не надо стесняться, а если слабые, то это все равно рано или поздно выяснится.

Кстати, в Канаде и US правила и люди не совсем одинаковые, но нормальный американец фразy типа "While searching for possible employment opportunity, your company website and the position for Research Laboratory Associate - Division of Molecular and Cell Biology, with substantial experience in molecular biology techniques, Transgenic manipulations (microinjections) and microscopic imaging attracted my attention" просто не дочитает до конца.

как человек, получающий 5-7 писем в неделю с просьбами о трудоустройстве в мою лабу, поделюсь парой советов. Во-первых, как писал уже Гест, все должно быть кратко и по существу. Во-вторых, без грамматических ошибок. Если письмо написано безграмотно - сразу в помойку. При этом мне нравится, когда указывается возраст кандидата. Если это даже суперопытный чел, но возрастом под 50 и претендует на пост-доковскую позицию, то сорри, отказать. Продуктивность уже не та, а если он такой мастер головой мыслить - так иди и свою лабу получай. Еще совет: для академии и индустрии пишутся разные резюме. Рекомендую также указывать гражданство - в силу визовых проблем. Удачи!
